You Have the Right to Remain Silent

Have you ever been in a situation where you just wanted to curse someone out so bad that you literally had to bite your tongue until it started to bleed to keep from saying anything? Or wanted to respond to a stupid comment with a sarcastic comeback? If you are like me, sometimes things just come out of your mouth before your brain can stop you from saying it.

We’ve all been there. Heck, I get taken there daily. But I had to stop and ask myself, “What good is a clap back going to do?” Or how would my witty, ok, petty response make the other person feel? Is responding to argue or even just to try to get your point across even worth it? If the answer is “no” then just keep it moving! Protect and save your sanity! In a time where there is trouble, calamity, sadness, and death all around us, it’s best to just start picking your battles. Even when you know you are right or when you are absolutely certain you have valid points for an argument/discussion, sometimes, it’s best to move on. Learn what requires your immediate energy and what does not. Just today, I had to respond to a situation with a simple “ok”! Let me tell you...IT KILLED ME! But I knew I had neither the strength, energy, or will to argue my point and even if I did, it would have made things worse. So, I talked to a friend just to get the issue off of my chest and to get a different point of view, and I let it go. There was no need to harbor that frustration and anger.

Now, will there be days that I am not so successful at picking my battles? OF COURSE! But if you are trying to live a more peaceful life, have a good energy, and maintain your sanity, just remember, You Have the Right to Remain Silent! It just may protect you in the long run!
