I flew home for a quick visit and when I landed I was starving! So, my friend picked me up from the airport and he and I went to NOLA. It is a beautiful, New Orleans “inspired“ restaurant in Baltimore, Maryland. We were greeted and quickly seated. Our bartender, Patrick, was so nice and fun and attentive! It didn’t take long for us to receive our food after FINALLY making up our minds on what we wanted. We shared the cajun bourbon tacos.
I ordered the stuffed salmon (stuffed with lump crab and crawfish), with mac-n-cheese and mashed potatoes. My friend got the fried shrimp dinner with jalapeño hush puppies and coleslaw. For dessert, we ordered beignets.
We also got two drinks…a Cross St. Hurricane and a Watermelon Basil Paloma.

I thought the food was good however, there was nothing New Orleans about it. It didn’t taste anything like a good ‘ol cajun NOLA meal. The bourbon tacos had more of an asian flare than southern or cajun. The drinks were rather sugary and gave both my friend and I a headache. The beignets were not even close to an authentic New Orleans beignet. The service was AMAZING! The staff and the vibe makes the place. Would I go again? Maybe, if it were to just meet up with friends or a business meeting. Would I purposely make a reservation in search of good food, probably not. BUT, I do want to give it just one more try before I completely give up because it’s such a nice vibe!
