I recently stopped by newly opemed Mama Koko's and from the moment I walked in the door, I felt the love!
It's in a beautiful Baltimore building, full of historic architectural elements and style. The first level is the dining level, which includes two bar areas, a patio to enjoy outside dining, and ample seating. There are chairs, couches, and high top tables that can be used for both dining and working. The upstairs has a boutique as well as an art gallery.
Each element and piece of decor tells a unique story about the owner, Mama Koko, and her family. For example, there is a huge turtle that sits nestled on a table. To the regular eye, it's just a turtle. But to the family, it's a reminder of (1) a childhood pet, and (2) a family motto-"Slow and steady wins the race". Just from walking around and admiring the beauty on each floor, I could honestly feel the history and love that went into making this place what it is.
I ordered th bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant and an iced brown sugar latte. The croissant was perfect! It had just the right amount of flakiness without it completely falling apart. And it was the perfect ratio to the filling. The latte was very tasty and I would definitely order it again. The food came out in a very timely manner.
The customer service was good! I was greeted with a smile and was offered suggestions and given information on what I ordered.
They are in the soft phase of opening and will be expanding their menu to include dinner and drink options in mid August. The libations offered will be mainly (but not limited to) rum based!
I highly suggest checking them out and don't forget to tell them, Dani sent ya!!!
