Autism is a developmental disorder of variable severity that is characterized by difficulty in interactions, communication, and patterns of thoughts and/or behaviors.
in 2018, one in 37 boys were diagnosed with autism and one in 151 girls were diagnosed with it. Autism affects all ethnic and socioeconomic groups. Early detection and intervention can support healthy development and offer better benefits across the lifespan. There have been several online and in person support groups that have been created to offer support to those who have autism as well as the care takers of those that have autism.
